For those who weren't aware of it, something really cool happened in Los Angeles around my birthday. The NASA's Space Shuttle Endeavour did its last trip around USA and ended its journey in Los Angeles at the California Science Center. You can read a lot of articles on the web about it (just Google it).
I unfortunately didn't get the chance to take them... I was working that day. And even though it went twice above my head, each time I was out looking for it, it was too late.
Anyway, the very last trip, which I believe was the craziest and most unique trip it did, was going from LAX to the California Science Center (close to USC, Downtown Los Angeles) where it will be exposed for a long period of time. The website Fubiz posted some of the coolest pictures from the day the Shuttle went from the airport to the CSC.
Check out the whole article here.
Here are 3 picture from that article:
What you have to know about it is that it actually took them 3 days to do 12 miles. The maximum speed expected was 2mph. In order to make it possible, they had to put down trees, go above the interstate 405, remove streets signs, take away red lights, keep people away... ok, the last one is not true. I mean, it was until they decided that it was impossible to keep people away from that event. So of course, without telling me, the allowed the crowed to gather around the Shuttle. I didn't try to go get my "Alex-in-LA" picture!! Not cool, LAPD, not cool!
